MARCH 2017:

Anybody want to join me in reading At Home in Japan: A Foreign Woman's Journey of Discovery with me?

"What would it be like to move to Japan, leaving everyone you know behind, to become part of a traditional Japanese household? At Home in Japan tells an extraordinary true story of a foreign woman who goes through an amazing transformation, as she makes a move from a suburban lifestyle in California to a new life, living in Japan. She dedicates 30 years of her life as a housewife, custodian and chatelaine of a 350–year–old farmhouse in rural Japan."

"This astonishing book traces a circular path from were Rebecca began, to living under Japanese customs, from the basic day to day details of life in the house and village, through relationships with family, neighbors and the natural and supernatural entities with which the family shares the house. Rebecca Otowa then focuses on her inner life, touching on some of the pivotal memories of her time in Japan, the lessons in perception that Japan has taught her and the ways in which she has been changed by living in Japan."

Oh I would have read this book with you, I totally forgot about it! Should we try it in another month?

Hi all,

I realize I'm late to the "party" but I thought what the heck.  Practical Magic is one of my favorite movies (top 5 category), but I've never read the book.  I just finished ordering the book from Amazon and I'm excited to read it!

Kym... I think that would be good after the Stevie chat. Kind of appropriate since she did appear on the soundtrack for the movie :-)

Go ahead and set it up! You have access to the Events page. But on this short notice I doubt anybody will come, but we can try :)

Also, are you going to set up the reading schedule?

I would like to do that, I was thinking we could do a book Chat Wed. What do you think?

Is there a weekly break-down of chapters or anything like that?

In honor of the film I am tempted to do midnight margaritas tonight! Even though it's a work night

I loved exploring this Practical Magic Blog Party back in 2011. Everyone made such lovely graphics! I wish they'd do it again.
